As I wait for my hair to stop falling out

I wonder when I should let it start growing again. I really do think it'll look 43 kinds of stupid if it's all long when the short new baby hairs start growing in. But it's pretty short now, so maybe it'll stop falling out and start growing back this month (May). They said like 3-4 mos from when it started falling out, which was February near as I can tell. I finally found a local Dr. who will purportedly prescribe Armour Thyroid. I have an appointment May 21 with Dr. Mark Olsen . I'm optimistic, I just hope I don't run out of Synthroid before then.... Alright I don't feel well today. I'm a little more concerned about the pig flu than I wanted to be, and then as though I had all the sense God gave a duck I took my child to Fun City today apparently right after an entire busload of public school kids left..... Time for family prayer!

I'm here to tell ya',

that whole library holding issue, is a much bigger deal than I ever would've imagined. Ever. I printed out the email, and when I went to pick up the book they were holding for me I mentioned that I just wanted them to be aware that while they only hold books for 4 days, their voice messages and emails state a full week. She proceeded to inform me that the voice message was automated (I said 'not when they call me- it's an actual person I ask questions and they talk back to me') NEVERTHELESS Ma'am, those are automated messages. Apparently different libraries have different rules about how long they will hold a book you've requested. I said either way I didn't really care, it's really not THAT big of a deal, I have just requested the 3-4 same books FOUR TIMES now and each time they say they will hold it for a full week yet when I come to get it, it is not there. They've sent it back to Timbuktu, and I have to re-request it and wait weeks longer.

And I made pizza roll-ups for dinner, which DBall refused to eat. He just had the standard jam & bread instead. He requested the pizza roll-ups (they sounded good to him on the surface....) but then he couldn't force himself to taste them. I also returned a couple books to the

Seriously I have to get it together!

The Boutique Show was a success & floors are shampooed!

Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera to the Boutique Show. I also neglected to ask Bryson to bring it when he and DBall came up to help. A sweet vendor named Nhi did take a picture of my booth, but I'm still waiting for her to email it to me. So perhaps I'll add that soemwhere later. Last Friday Celeste determined that we needed to go on the Mud Creek Trail in Fayetteville. After I got my hair cut (hallelujah! I LOVE it, someone finally cut it exactly like I asked!) I met them over there. We walked a lot, stopped a few times, and played in the creek under the overpass.... sort of (it's sort of under the overpass, I think?). Celeste took pictures, which I have snagged and shall include here: The cool wooden bridge on the trail Playing in the Creek At the very end of the walk there was a small owl sitting on the trashcan. He didn't move when we got really close to him, nor when many pictures were taken of him. The kids figure he was injured, one of his eyes w

Exercised, killed weeds, 5 mo photos

Went to the "new house" this morning and weed & feed-ed the backyard (did the front yard last week). Also went for my 40 minute walk, half by myself and half with the boys. We also went to Lowe's, two banks, Sam's, the attorney, the post office..... Before we left AceBall took 5-mo post op pics for me, including a couple with Deuceball. Then Dball wanted to take pics of ABall & me. Here's a couple- I'm down 86 lbs and still not overly impressed with the pictures, but they're definitely better than 6 months (and 86 lbs) ago.

Silver Dollar City + a New Week

So last Thursday our HomeSchool group went to the Titanic Museum in Branson (I thought it was a little lengthy myself, but interesting) and then we went to World Fest at Silver Dollar City. DBall was really wanting to ride the water rides (where you get sopping wet) but it was only 65° outside (if memory serves) and it sounded like a really unsavory idea to me. There were people riding the river raft-type ride, but I just thought they must've been completely devoid of common sense or something. We did ride D's all time favorite ride The Flooded Mine , the roller coaster Thunderation (DBall's 'favorite roller coaster'- he rode twice). I'm thinking I should've ridden Fire-in-theHole and the PowderKeg , but Celeste made me ride the Giant Swing . It was a horrible experience all the way through and shant be repeated ever again. Somehow I actually got a migraine from it- though I'm not certain how that happened. The description mentions going through

Too Much Protein, Eaten Along With Fat, May Lead To Insulin Resistance

ScienceDaily (Apr. 9, 2009) — A clue about the blood chemistry of obese people who develop insulin resistance, a precursor to diabetes, has been confirmed in animal studies at the Duke University Medical Center. Obese people have been found to harbor proteins called branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) at far higher levels than non-obese people. The suspicion has been that these amino acids, in combination with a high-fat diet, contribute to insulin resistance. The team found that the BCAA signature in obese humans consisted of the branched-chain amino acids themselves, plus a cluster of several products related to the body's breakdown processes for BCAA. "In the case of the amino acids, we also are finding increased levels of their metabolic breakdown products, which suggests the whole system for handling the amino acid metabolic process has been overloaded," said senior author Christopher Newgard, Ph.D., director of the Sarah W. Stedman Nutrition and Metabolism Center an

Too much protein coupled with FAT can be a BAD THING after all!!

Excess protein as risky as sugar, researchers say Too much of 'good nutrient' may cause metabolic overload Honolulu Advertiser Special: Diabetes: Hawaii's Hidden Epidemic By Sarah Avery McClatchy-Tribune News Service RALEIGH, N.C. — As the prevalence of diabetes has doubled in the U.S. over the past decade, doctors are beginning to unravel the complex cellular events that cause some people to develop the chronic disease while others remain healthy. Advertisement New findings by North Carolina researchers are pointing to additional targets for drug therapies. In a paper published yesterday, Duke University researchers conclude that diabetes could be affected by protein — not the usual suspects of sugary carbohydrates that are most associated as dietary taboos. The Duke team found that obese people metabolize protein differently than lean people, particularly when it's part of a high-fat diet. Diabetes, once considered a fairly straightforward problem, results when the bo

That's probably a really annoying thing to read if you're not me, or haven't had WLS. But I *LOVE* saying it, so I'll likely continue. It's currently only 43° F outside, but supposed to be 70° F today. I haven't had nearly as much exercise (walking) as I'd like the last few weeks, because it's been so cold and *I've* been so cold in general. Hopefully today around 10-11 a.m. it'll warm enough for DBall and I to walk to the library/park. We need to return some books and re-check some, check out some new ones. So this Summer is shaping up very nicely, in my head. A new house in a better place, with sidewalks... ABall working daytime hours closer to home.... losing more weight every month.... YeeeHaaaaw!!! I'm extremely optimisitc! ** Also decided to include a pic of my new business cards... I'm pretty excited about getting those also. I think I've figured out how to make my own in the future, but I just don't have time right

SO EXCITED!

We've been praying and hoping for so long, and ABall was finally offered a mail carrier position here in town. NO MORE MIDNIGHT SHIFTS!!!!! He'll work during the daytime, and sleep at home with us every night!! It will be so much healthier for him- and better for us all, all around. HALLELUJAH!!! He will have to go "part-time flex" again, and we have no idea how long that will last. We're hoping of course the he will go full-time ASAP, but there's no guarantee. As PTF he may work days/week, fewer than 40 hours /week sometimes, different hours and days off in any given week..... but we can deal with this. :) He will be out of the plant, not having to deal with lots of nonsense. He will have 'regular' hours which will be such a relief after all these years. YAY!!! I'm so excited!

I'm so excited!

We had the inspection today and it went really well. There's a few minor things that need repairing, we're hoping the seller will repair them and that will be that. We are set to close the first week of May- and then we can LEAVE THIS PLACE. :D Yeeehaaaaw! First we're going to paint everything (all the walls) taupe. And clean everything, especially the carpets. THEN we're going to MOVE IN. I'm beyond thrilled! Today we walked around the 'new neighborhood' for 15-20 minutes. Then this afternoon D and I walked to the park. D actually roller skated there. He was hot and sweaty by the time we were halfway back home, but I figure it's good for him. If the child can't walk two miles without being exhausted he needs more regular exercise. And after two weeks of barely any exercise at all for me, I'm relieved to have gotten our walking in today. The new neighborhood has SIDEWALKS- another reason I'm anxious to get over there. Alright I

So excited!

For several years I've heard of people doing "Resurrection Easter Eggs" for Family Home Evening. We don't actually DO FHE very often at all, though I really wish we did. What with B's night time work schedule and all, we've neglected to make it work for us. But I digress. I googled Resurrection Easter Egg FHE and found it. The same person who posted it where I found it (at scribd, I believe) also listed her blog!! Here it is: Chocolate on my Cranium . It includes some homeschooling stuff (w00t!) as well as additional FHE lessons I can download, print out and use. This is SO FABULOUS for me, as I was thinking of asking for a FHE booklet where it contains already made up FHE lessons/activities/layouts for Christmas anyway. I went to her blog, and her top entry was "Easter All Week Long". I wish I had seen it sooner- we could've started 2-3 days ago. As it is, we may have to do it all in one day? Maybe at Nana's Saturday night? Nana?

Seems like last week was pretty busy.....

I was fairly well exhausted from it, but I'm not so sure it was that busy to begin with? I lost 4 lbs last week- but I really need to get back to walking and I'm certain I'll lose more. I hate being cold though- and I can't walk outside when it's too cold because with asthma I can't breathe so well. The high yesterday was in the mid 70's, but today is only 46 (the horror). There's supposed to be a hard freeze tonight and a really hard freeze tomorrow night. It wears me out. DBall did T4L all week, and though it's mostly review right now I think it's going alright. It takes little more than an hour for him to do 2 lessons in each 'subject' right now, but he still manages to complain periodically that he would rather lie on the couch and watch TV. And he can't fathom why I wouldn't want him watching TV during the daytime ('school hours'). I've explained more than once that just because we aren't going to publ

That is all, you may return to your regularly scheduled program now. :D (SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!) Oh, I'm looking to buy some 2" ROUND business cards/tags, similar to THESE (<--click that) or I'll try to insert it here: but with my info/design on them. Any ideas? Also they can't cost a million dollars, and I need them by April 25th (Boutique Sale). I've tentatively designed one in a 2.7" square that Celeste says I can take to the school district office and use their diecut to punch out the circles myself.... Here's mine: Though obviously it would be way cuter if it could have a circle or flower border or something around it like the examples above.....
